The science that shows strength training increases your resting metabolic rate. Also proven that too much cardio just makes you more hungry. Also there’s a huge difference between someone who lifts free weights and someone who does CrossFit. You can achieve a lot with moderate resistance. The goal is body fat loss while preserving muscle.

all this plus strength training leads to muscle and that makes you look fit.
I’ve done marathons, triathlons, HIIT, crossfit. nothing makes me look or feel better than 5 days of heavy strength training.
Calorie deficit = Weight loss

Bingo A1. There are folks out there that will try to outrun their calorie consumption. Can they be in a deficit? Yes.
Is it sustainable long term? Hellz no.
This has something I’ve know for many many years. I don’t think it’s anything new

In addition to C1, there used to be a lot of misinformation and fear associated with strength / resistance training. Many people associated strength training with injury and women shunned it out of fear of getting bulky.
Over time, trainers, researchers, doctors, etc. have done a much better job of explaining the (superior) long term health benefits of strength training.

I was a runner in my 20s and early 30s - 60 mpw, every week. Now in my mid 40s - I started lifting. My body has never looked better and strong is sexy!
I think just do some physical work out every day, or as often as you can without risking hurting yourself. The weight will come off or balance itself in time as long as you are being active and eating relatively well. Yes I agree, there is always some new fad style for working out
Does Pilates count as strength/resistance training?
Yes, although usually strength and resistance means using bodyweight or weights. But I still think Pilates would count
All three have different health benefits and support losing fat in different ways/ different time horizons
