A recruiter approached me for a position in HF. Then the recruiter said the company wanted someone with a more direct background. Is a no from recruiter a hard no, or do I still get a chance by just contacting the hiring managers of that HF and perhaps get an interview?

How does a panel interview feel like? Is there anything that I should be prepare for it? Any tips?
