I would directly ask the recruiter about it or say something like more than happy to provide it once we get further in the process. From my experience all of that should wait until later on. They could still be legitimate but you can NEVER be too careful today. I’ve seen scammers imitate somebody they found off the company site before.
Don’t ever give your Social Security number out until you’re hired, the offer is signed and you’re dealing with HR onboarding peeps. What you’re describing doesn’t sound like a real job. If this turn out to be the case, I’m really sorry.
I'd be pretty skeptical of that. It's conceivable it's someone pretending to be a legit company. Check the return address on emails and see if it aligns with the company URL. Sometimes one or two letters will be off, and you won't notice at first. In any event, that procedure sounds backwards, the background check is usually a last step, as would be handing over social security info.
Don’t do it. If anything, contact the company to see if it’s legit.
Update 😂😂😂 it was legit but after a client zoom and telling me how amazing my experience is (💯), it's not a match because of my "work style". And no, I have no clue what they're referring to.
