Who's got the most fishbowl points?
Hi fishes! I volunteer with The Art of Good, a creative collective helping small businesses affected by the pandemic. They are seeking a little help from a media professional. Need an SEM POV for a small business looking to change their name and relaunch their brand. This is non-paid. More about giving back while in-between gigs. :) If you can help out or want to learn more, please reach out to me via LinkedIN. Thank you!! www.linkedin.com/in/karenkohn/

Don’t be afraid to ask what you think you’re worth.
Think of a range that you will TRULY be happy with and think that it will be sustainable for you.
“This is what will make me happy to work for you and not make me search for another job with higher pay. If you pay me this, I will happily stay with your company for years so that you don’t need to hire a replacement after one year because the salary isn’t good enough.”
Frame it as the cost to replace me is more expensive than the cost to hire me and keep me happy
No problem- happy to help if you need more help.
Honestly the problem with most people is that they don’t know sales.
Your problem is you don’t understand sales. If you understand sales, you understand that price is just a negotiation. Price is what you pay, value is what you get.
If you approach getting a job as selling a service, then you know how to price your services appropriately, compel the buyer to buy from you, tell a story, get them emotionally invested etc.
Here’s a cool book I’ve been reading - talks about how to explain why a customer needs to buy your services and how to present value. I’ve been using it for my sales but you could use it for job interviews too
You just ask the recruiter what the position's range is. They can't ask you what you're currently making by law in California, and they may ask what your salary expectations are, but you can always just spin it around and ask what the set range is for the position. Then you know what you can negotiate for if you get offered the position.
Thank you. I appreciate the help. 😁
