Seriously. Stop giving a shit about awards. Is your work leaving the kind of impact you want it to? If so, then stay. If not go seek that kind of work that gives you fulfillment. All the awards are anyways bought out.
Awards aren’t everything, but is your work really good and/or getting better? When other CDs see your book, are they impressed? If no, look for a job that will give you that chance.
jump ship.
I feel you. The world is changing. More people give less fucks about awards, but the work that goes in them is even harder than before + you generally need to bend the truth (so issues with personal values come up). We all lie in case studies.
Depends if you want to be in traditional agencies: awards matter. Anywhere else, people usually think they’re pathetic. A good old side project that’s gotten PR works better than awards. Because a lot of people are leechers too. I don’t assume that a creative has had awards just because they’re in their portfolio. I’ve seen so many people who just tagged along the ride and shamelessly put the awards in there (like 80/20). So, just depends on where you want to be and who you talk to.
No one outside our bubble cares about these awards. Make something real instead. Write a book.
