Bleaker than ever

I have never seen it this dark in 29 years.

As always, it’s a little brighter if you have strong relationships with trusted creatives and resource managers.

Bleak but slowly improving.

likeupliftinghelpful

This year feels like a low point. Hopefully the only direction it can go is up.

By choice or being laid off? If the former, keep your job/health benefits unless it's literally killing you. FL is rough.

Not by choice I’d gladly be FT remote forever. Holding company says no.
Healthcare benes are going to be a big issue.

I was having oodles more luck with freelance than looking for full time work . . . until three months ago and everything just fucking vanished. And I was working with “tariff proof” type clients too. Cyber security, festivals, sponsorships, movie promotion.

I’ve been a freelance print production designer for many years, and usually on-site in the before times. Now I work remote, and am finding it uneasy dealing with billing. Before I always billed hourly, which made sense, but it’s becoming an issue now. Some companies don’t have a full days’ work, so it seems wrong to bill full days, and it allows me to juggle projects for different companies, but my billable hours are down. I know I should bill a daily rate, but not sure that will fly. Thoughts?

Does it matter if I don’t meet the specific job requirements when transferring H1B? The job posted requires CPA license but I haven’t got it. The employer is still willing to hire me. I know for PERM process, meeting minimum requirements is important but not sure if H1B have such requirement. I heard that for H1B as long as it’s a position requiring bachelors degree and specifically occupation that should be fine. But kinda worried about this.
