Additional Posts in Audit Bowl
Just signed the outside employment form in KPMG onboarding system. I actually wanted to start dabbling in creative writing as a potentially monetizable hobby, but I'm guessing this may pose issues.
Definitely interested in the "exception from this policy may be requested if provision of non-professional services doesn't interfere with one's duties of causes conflict of interest" clause, though. Has anyone been able to get one of those before?

My advice if you’re interested is that it’s clear you care. You sound humble so use that to your advantage. Be transparent with the senior manager so they know this is going to be a learning experience for you. Don’t pretend to know things you don’t for fear of looking bad because it could blow up later on. Integrated audits take much better coordination and communication so ask lots of questions so this is a stepping stone to much greater confidence and proficiency. Good luck.
Just be prepared to blame one of the staff if things go south.
I was a first year manager on a first year public client a few years back! It broke me, I quit. But I’m much happier in industry now.
Will you be the lead manager?
Looks like you will not be the lead so hopefully you can take on less risky areas and you’ll be fine. You can look at it as a learning experience too, not a lot of managers are able to work on first year oublic clients
I’ve had several first year public audits over the years. If you understand what you’re doing it shouldn’t be an issue. It will be more work but normally the firm budgets are larger for first year audits. But if you’ve gone your whole career with rolling forward prior year work then you are going to struggle and your lack of understanding on things are going to be highlighted.
I do feel like I understand things I’m just concerned being a first year manager with a limited pcaob experience is going to overwhelm me, however I’m also worried if I say I’m not interested
Is it an integrated audit or FSA?
I ran a first year public audit last year as a non senior manager and it was challenging but great experience and I developed a ton. I’d say if you’re interested go for it, but don’t do it to try to impress others at the cost of being overly stressed out. It’s not worth it if it’ll burn you out from working at DT.
