I spoke to a EY Recruiter today. She asked for my range for a manager role on the Federal side. I said 150-175 base. The role is in DC. She informed me that is more in the SM range and she would reach out if there was a SM opportunity she had available. I’ve been in industry for more than 10 years. I didn’t think 150-175 base was too high for a manager role with Big 4 in DC. I make close to these figures now. Am I going to take a pay cut coming from industry to consulting?

Finally some good news - USCIS furlough cancelled!

A company was pretty aggressively recruiting me until 4 interviews in — no movement. I haven’t heard back in a week and a half about next steps. Should I assume I won’t be moving forward any longer? I emailed the recruiter a few days ago to check in, and no response. (She typically replies very quickly and I was told I’m one of the top two final candidates 😕)

After you are stealth laid off, other than job search, what do you do? I assume they won’t give you work and even if they do, you can politely decline? Hey fishies, I have a friend who is interested in becoming a consultant but he’s taken an interesting path, would love your advice on any good angles he could take for applying/ types of roles. He has a bachelors in science (chemistry maybe?) from H/Y/P and after undergrad he took a less traditional route and was working as an instructor for things like tennis, piano, snowboarding, etc..
