Hello fam. T&E is back online.
Deloitte experienced hires, who all received written offers and in process of visa/ onboarding, have you heard back anything about hiring freeze? Or recruiter asked you to delay joining date?
My visa got submitted couple of days back and waiting for decision. When I reached out to recruiter to give her an update and mentioned once there’s decision will discuss on the start date before putting my 2 weeks, she mentioned “Yes, we should talk before you put notice” - Am I overthinking? As an EH, I don’t see myself leaving. Everything from the WLB to the work I do to my supportive team has made this the most positive work environment I’ve had in my life. Before you ask, no I’m not being sarcastic either
Seconded. I'm on great long term project sure it can be lit if pressure at times but I love it and most times wlb works out. Here vs my old job, there's no comparison here double up.
The main difference is that experienced hires forget that the "home grown" have a large network and intrinsically "just get" how things are done (because they've had years of experience in the firm learning how we work).
The exp hire hasn't got this back catalogue and also is probably used to places where technical knowledge is the be-all-and-end-all, where as utilisation is king here.
Some adapt, others expect the behemoth that is Deloitte to mould to their expectations - no prizes for guessing which ones are still here 5 years on.
That said 3 years of a Big 4 on the CV opens doors so even if you don't storm it to Partner in 4 weeks after joining it is still a good investment in your future career
It’s the same everywhere then. Accenture experienced hire coming in as Deloitte experienced hire. At least, it won’t be shocking anymore 😄
I’m just starting… 😔
This EH is staying 11 years and counting
D7 same!
Staffing, whether for proposals or projects, is done by networks. EH come in with sometimes lots of experience and knowledge, but have zero network. Building a true network where people think of you for staffing takes a long time. I think that’s a huge reason for EH departures. With all the recent hires, this is even more problematic.
That’s exactly why I’m considering leaving
I am thinking of leaving, but only because the pay is lower than I could find elsewhere and the promotion timeline much slower. Overall, I’ve enjoyed my time at Deloitte. The people are kind and brilliant, I really like my project, and I’ve found the firm is more respectful of WLB than any other place I’ve ever worked. I like it here, just think I can progress my career more quickly by lateraling.
Thinking about but only because I promised myself I would leave after a couple years. Honestly, a positive experience overall but YMMV obviously
I’m leaving asap
If one comes in as a senior manager and above it can be brutal. It seems it's either great or really bad. Through covid and now with our lack of onboarding and enough seasoned people with the bandwidth to support what is often seen as competition is a challenge. Some accounts and offerings float people and other EHs are left on their own to survive.
It's not consistently handled. I have seen brilliant amazing people be treated as they've never had a job with the quip its a privilege to be here and they just can't cut it. Other teams are fantastic and help colleagues find a home.
The inconsistency of Partners capabilities and professionalism is shocking. Behind the veil is not impressive so people with experience leave.
Interviewing elsewhere…didn’t join the firm to find “job”. Reached out to >100 Industry specific leaders during my first year and still struggling to get staffed. Leaving D with great disappointment😏
Why? What is the experience like for experienced hires? I may be coming in as an experienced hire soon.
Well have fun! And say goodbye to your mental health/life
“all the experience hires i know” we talking 4 people here or 50? Lol
