My base loc is Bengaluru, but currently I am not mandatorily required to work from office, and have been working from home since I joined Deloitte in July. Should I talk to my manager and go back to my hometown Kolkata and work from there? Staying in PG all day and working from here is not quite feasible for me. Suggest pls. Deloitte India

Exactly how I feel - we are both so young and have time, so don’t sweat it
You’ve always got time, no sense getting sucked into the corporate machine if you don’t want to
Mhm, I’m on the same boat hahah. I’ve just come to realize that work doesn’t make me happy, just provided an income for me to enjoy life outside of work and that’s okay
When I feel this way, I just remind myself that most of the world is struggling and it’s a huge privilege to even entertain the idea of working a job I’m passionate about
But doesn't seem that OP is passionate about theirs
Same exact thing. Thinking to possibly leave, but nothing else sounds super exciting to me right now either
Yup work isn’t difficult. Just unfulfilling.
I also just want to vibe. The corporate grind just isn’t attractive to me and payoff just isn’t there I feel.
Vibes are high. You’re exactly where you’re supposed to be, follow your heart, enjoy the journey, money will follow
Same. Keep performing high but I don’t let it get to me bc Idk what the end goal is for me yet
What’s great about these companies is that you have a lot of different opportunities available. If you don’t like what you’re doing now… network to see what else is out there within your company and try something else. The great thing about working at these places is that you literally get to build your own career if you want to.
3 years and no idea what to do with my life. But I have a lot if hobbies outside work.
Improv, painting, pottery, biking
Feel you
Grass isn’t always greener. I actually came to consulting from an industry role and the work I do now is 10x more fulfilling and interesting. Maybe I just got lucky with my projects though!
Agree with this, I left for tech and am looking to come back at some point (might be past MBA)
Just finishing up my first three months in consulting. I’m realizing, no matter what job I have it is not sustainable to only live to work. I am trying to make sure I keep things going outside of work to fulfill me and keep me pushing.
Works a pay check - let’s me do a lot of fun things that define my identity outside of it!
Take a sabbatical and go travelling. It's what I did. You'll be working for the next 40 years of your life, so taking a 6 months to a year out won't impact your career. Travel, enjoy not having deadlines, decide if you want to come back to the same company, change companies, or change career paths.
The Goal is to Make as much money so I can invest as much as possible so i can retire early
I think every work life has "lull" moments where it is not exciting and feels boring. But if this is something pervasive it could be something more that has to deal with you personally beyond work? It is hard as this is a post and the dynamic of looking at someone as they say this along with their vibes will be helpful in determining what the question is and what to do next. You can always volunteer with different industries and see if you feel passionate about a particular industry and then try to get clients in that space or quit consulting and go work for that industry.
Yo are you me?
Maybe grad school? Passions or hobbies outside of work?
I appreciate the candor and honesty here. In the same boat!
