Lovely post from Justine Bloome https://medium.com/themindful/3-simple-ways-to-become-a-strategist-9d95ba5f7ebf
best way i’ve seen is taking on more strategy projects on top of your day-to-day resp at your current job (this does require that ur team knows u want to move into strat). network with strategists within ur company and elsewhere m. do a lot of spec work on the side (writing briefs, pov decks, etc)
@AS1- I actually have a master’s- I wrote my thesis on engagement strategy in social!
For the others, thanks for the tips! For more senior strategists, what would you ask or want to see from an AE during an interview?
Miami Ad School Boot camp
I went back to grad school. Not for everyone, but was well worth it for me
@Grey 1 - I’ve done some strat work previously (planning, cultural insights, research) which I loved! So I have some experience to talk about while networking. But I’m worried that’s not enough to make a lateral move/ I won’t be taken seriously because I feel every account person wants to be a strategist
Find a role that is a hybrid. I am a client facing strategist and I am a former account person. Depending on your channel, it could be a seamless transition.
