Friendly reminder: all the ambient holly jolly just makes things harder on folks who are already down or struggling.
If you don’t think you know anyone like this — check on your boys/girls.
If this is someone you know, reach out to them specifically.
If this is you, feel free to drop me a line. We can talk about literally anything you’d like. Or just trade memes.
How soon do you follow up after an interview? My interviewers told me to follow up with HR after a few days if I don't hear anything, but I hate being pushy.
At work do you ever describe who you’re dating without using gender specific pronouns just to avoid finding out if a co-worker is going to act weird about it? Lol
Percentage of tax for well being and commute?
Do we also have tax for summertime? Wtf yar
Which is better to join EY INDIA Or EY GDS for 7 Year of Experience ?

I am getting an offer of 20LPA (fixed pay) from Mindtree at C3 level. My YoE is 7years.
Should I negotiate on this?
What should I be expecting from Mindtree at my experience level?
I want to stay friends with my ex. His actions still impact and hurt me emotionally. I’ve been trying to ignore him but that also hurts me because I still care about him and think he’s a good guy.
Advice on this dilemma?
Why does understanding politics and government policies seem like a full time job? I don’t know what to believe, what’s real vs fake, or who and what to trust. I know I should care more but it’s too overwhelming to try and understand it all so I usually just step away.
Anyone obtained a certificate of recovery from COVID for travel? And if so, from where?
Context is that I had COVID in January and want to get out of the test to re-enter the US, but don’t know where to get a certificate of recovery in NYC since I don’t have a primary care doctor.
Which is uglier: Sky Dweller or YMII?
Do you bill the same way when billing time for pro bono? If you read a non-substantive brief email would you bill .1? Feel weird doing that even though I do it for clients.
I have a BS in Kinesiology and an MBA in Healthcare Administration and have worked in neuro clinical testing for 17 years. I’m looking for a direction to be pointed in for a career change, ideally something that can be done remotely and doesn’t require a ton of other specialized training. Coming up short on my own searches. Any suggestions?
Anyone work for EYs FAAS group? I'm thinking of making the jump from BDO audit to there and need some guidance.

S1 tax in Boston, intending to relocate to Pittsburgh for personal reasons. I'm expecting a pay rate decrease due to COL difference. Any advice appreciated. Referral, recruiting forms to avoid, etc...
So.. if I put in my notice and they let me go immediately due to going to a competitor (I heard that pwc pays for the two weeks regardless) - can I immediately start at the new job? Wouldn’t that mean that I am on both payroll for two weeks? Is that an issue?
I got an email on Friday at 1:30 asking for my availability this week for an interview and I responded back Saturday at 11:30 and sent the recruiter an email letting him know I responded and I was looking forward to the interview but I haven’t heard back. Is this a bad sign or am I overthinking it?
Have you ever given honest feedback to a company when leaving? For example the d&i initiatives leadership is taking has lead to joking about common racial stereotypes in office whenever an update is sent. I’m not used to those comments being said so freely for all to hear and fear they’d hire a minority (as part of those initiatives) in my place and subject them to that. I’m not sure what there is to gain but wanted to get other points of view.
Accepted an offer recently (last week) and haven’t heard back from the HR regarding a confirmed start date (we discussed dates but didn’t nail down in offer letter) or background check, is this stuff that normally takes time to get set up? Thanks
Has anyone made the leap from Corporate accounting/Financial reporting to something more niche like Revenue Reporting? I work in SEC reporting but want to work somewhere more diverse/fast paced/in the saas world and am considering a revenue reporting manager position at a tech company.
I haven’t worked in revenue before and am not super familiar with 606 so I don’t know if I would flop but I’m a CPA with 8+ yes experience (mix of PA/corporate experience)
If I’m making 65k in my first year of audit, should I jump ship now before I reach senior for a job as a “senior accountant” with 85-95k comp? Or should I wait until I reach senior associate and then jump to the same 90-100k range?
More than likely receiving an offer for a more technical position than I’d like in my career. In short, I think it pigeonholes me into a role I’m not comfortable with and have little interest for.
How do I politely reject the offer when it comes through?
Has this happened to anyone? Where you go through the interview process - and they call you back saying you did great in the interview and that you'd be a great fit but the role has been filled. So they are going to pass you to other hiring managers and see if you'd be a good fit in the other teams? I'm so confused.
Hi , can anyone please give ideals of role to be looking for A2 big 4audit , no CPA, want to transition into something different from audit. Also will be 2 years in October . Should I stick it out till then ? Or start looking and what role ? Thanks
Really interested in a job a recruiter brought me. However apparently the dept hiring and HR are now in conflict as HR wasn't notified the dept hired a recruiter and HR doesn't wanna pay the recruiter. Anyone experienced this?
What amount of money would you need to be offered from another company to leave (talk in terms of percentage increase in salary and include your level at the firm)? I’m passively looking and am curious what offer would be considered too good to pass up as an AY2.
I have an interview at U.S bank for senior risk analyst coming up. I am currently a senior audit associate which is a big switch I’m assuming. Any tips to prepare?
does anyone know where to get good resume review/help? Haven’t updated mine since college and don’t know what I still need on there or should take off
Ok fishbowl family - I need advice. Rising senior 1 here and realizing that I genuinely get no joy out of audit. I’m way too stressed and really do not care about accounting and have made it a life goal to never book a journal entry. I want to take the next year to figure out what my dream job is and go for it. Here’s what I like: I love talking to people, mentoring & teaching, organizing, learning. I literally loved everything in college- I was between majoring in accounting or psychology. 1/X
I applied at this company and last Friday they verified my references. And then 4 days later hiring manager sets up a phone conversation letting me know they still have other finalist they are interviewing and will let me know when t they make a decision. I really wanted this job and now idk if I’ll even get it. But my question, why would she verify my references and not offer me the job!is that normal ? This never happened to me before 😞
My glowing review, complete with the “It’s not a matter of ‘if’ you’ll make partner, but ‘when’” line, resulted in a $4,000 salary increase. For the third year in a row.
I billed 200 more hours than last year and earned another certification. Now at $76k in a low to mid COL area. Top 25 firm.
Is it time to jump ship?
How hard is it to move from audit to internal audit / risk advisory? Are the hours better? Willing to switch firms if it’s easier to do so.
I do enjoy audit but this life is not sustainable.

Be respectful and try your best to complete all your work and let your team know where everything stands. We’ve had staff/ seniors/ managers leave and some would make sure they had all their ducks in a row and others that just checked out. The Partners always seem to remember who made the transition easy and which ones left a steaming pile of crap to sort through. Those partners could be the ones giving references or referrals so it’s just a good idea not to burn a bridge if possible.
