I don’t understand this, isn’t this pretty much impossible if you gained no relevant industry skills to exit to industry?
Exception is if you’re a MBB star that rose to EM in 2-years and are now looking at a Corp Strategy role or equivalent. But if you’re a Big 4 “PMO” or “Implementation” consultant then what do you actually offer that will help you stand out from the competition? Not trying to be harsh here.
Industry skills or project type is very important. Hence why Deloitte M&A can exit easily into Corp Development roles or why Healthcare Consultants can exit to Big Pharma. I think if you don’t have any specialist knowledge or skills then you need to build it quickly.
Being young and sub 5-years of working experience is the only time where you get a pass for not bringing anything to the table. Knowledge and skills are deeply valued.
