I used to read a lot when I was younger but got out of the habit. I bought a kindle paperwhite and downloaded Libby. You can check out books (and audiobooks) from your public library. I’m in the DC area so a lot of the libraries have reciprocity and I have a ton of books available to me, but it may be a little different depending on where you are. This way, you can just return a book you don’t like and takes the risk out of spending $10-$30 on something you might not finish. It may be a way for you to explore different genres without risk.
I love Libby!
Steve Jobs by Isaacson, The everything store Ride of a lifetime --> gave me a lot of inspiration which I have been missing lately

Where the crowdads sing
I know it’s unpopular opinion but even though I think the writing is beautiful, I can’t get over the plot holes and how it just seems forced. Trying not to give spoilers but if you really try to think about it, so many things in the plot makes no sense.
Liberal Privilege by Donald Trump Jr
Well, anything from Jr undermines itself. Nothing interesting, really.

I re-read Dune to prepare for the new movie. Amazing how well that novel has held up, and the ten-odd years since I last read it really made me appreciate some of the nuances more.
I loved Dune as a young adult (and still do now). Now as I get older, I have much more appreciation for Dune Messiah. Highly recommend, esp. for us Americans who have a tendency to build up messianic heroes.
That’ll Never Work - book about how Netflix got started so maybe doesn’t fit your criteria, but pretty good read
I wait to buy paperbacks because I’m cheep and still like physical books: -hillbilly elegy -price of admission -educated -very important people

Why reading if you’re not much of a reader? Maybe try audiobooks first while you do something else to see if you like consuming books but in easier way? Other hobby ideas - cooking (pick a genre and learn 10 great dishes), exercise or sports, following a sports team, arts like paint or draw, woodcarving, car repair, studying WWII history, ...

Sapiens: A brief history of humankind
For someone getting into reading, I would definitely not recommend this. Too dense and not fun to read at all. Great book, eye opening but needs serious dedication and patience.

Big fan of Audible. “The Stand” and “The Outsider” are fantastic and very well narrated.
