I think getting really good at prompt writing and being able to get what you need out of ChatGPT or whatever your preferred platform is, is a great start. I normally just try to incorporate it into a bunch of my tasks. Read this brief and make it better, read this and summarize it for me, give me ten ideas of features that can do xyz thing in this context… etc. I like to ask it to give me a solid outline and example of a document type I’m trying to write and will give it the general point I’m trying to get across and let it work for me. It always needs a lot of finessing, of course, but it’s more fun than just writing from scratch and often a better result.

I love using ChatGPT to create additional resumes for applications I’ll never hear back on

Prompt Engineering is I think the number one skill, as PM we need to learn. AI could be very useful only if we know how to use it.

Anyone going out tonight?

Took my first ever sick day today on account of my very poor and worsening mental health. Just could not bring myself to put in another 14 hour day with back to back meetings and constant activity. Felt very guilty but I honestly wish I could be more honest and actually share with my manager about why I took a day off.

For those also going through this, any tips on how you manage yourself day to day? What self talk tends to help?

A colleague told me today that Google separates Product Manager and Product Owner as two separate roles. I believe that one PM role is preferred in the industry and most modern software companies, especially FAANG companies, only have PMs. Just curious what others have experienced and if I'm correct in my assumption.

Advice on applying to PM jobs with 1yr APM experience?

I’ve been working as an APM at my current company for 1yr, and have basically been doing the work of a full blown PM the entire time. I’ve lead several features from start to finish and made sure to mention in my resume that I have been doing everything a regular PM does. Has anyone ever hired an APM for a PM role or done it yourself? Any tips? Advice?

I got invited to a second round interview with a big company. The title sounds more senior than my current title, but the work responsibilities feel like a step down. I am wondering if I should still interview (to see if they will consider me for my desired role instead or at least, get some interview practice for when a better opportunity comes along). Thoughts? Is it ok to reject the offer if they make one, on the grounds of the role not being a good fit for me.

So our CEO asked me and a colleague to give a Start/Stop/Continue Mid-year review of our CIO who’s been our Head of Product for a few months (Our Head of Product left because of him when that guy came in)

We have a lot to say and none of the PMs approves the way he operates.

My concern is that it’s meant to be transparent but if we’re honest and he gets called off, he will figure out it comes from us.

Never been in that situation before, is it better to be completely honest or a bad idea?
