Hey guys. I have been applying to Amex for the past 1 year. Tried applying on the portal, through referrals and even hr consultants reached me regarding the roles since I have a relevant profile. But not once have I been shortlisted or called for an interview. What could be the problem?
PS: I have gotten calls from every other company for the same profile but not amex. Can't be a problem with the profile. Seems something dicey which I'm not aware of.American Express
Got a random email from a supposed Amazon recruiter for a SDE position (which is not at all a fit). The email is amazon.com domain and there are no red flags in the body but it doesn't feel like an Amazon recruiter due to the tacky signature, etc. Has anyone seen this kind of cold-calling from FAANG recruiter?

I found the interview process went so much better after the pandemic started. Virtual interviews went so much better than in person for me and I ended up with an EA job in Chicago. Practice also helped, even having some points to talk about myself on. In my interviews people could see large racks of nail polish on my wall and it was actually a great conversation piece during the interviews. One guy at Deloitte was fascinated by it all and we had a good extra 5 minutes just discussing nail polish.
🙋🏻♀️ the interview process is mostly conversational. They really are just trying to get a read on whether or not your personality is going to fit for the team. Being an introvert and an admin works for certain teams. I.e. if your team/executive is an extrovert, an introvert assistant may be a good balance. (This is just an example). I have been working primarily in the finance industry.
I would guess being an introvert would be beneficial in the finance field..
I am an introvert..,but that does not affect my ability to communicate and or express my needs. If I can give one piece of advice…try not to allow anyone (even yourself) to label you. Everyone can be both an introvert or extrovert depending on your environment. Be yourself, set boundaries early and give yourself and others grace. Best of luck to you!😊
It’s more of a sliding scale re: Introversion vs. Extroversion, I tend to lean towards Introversion, with a high dose of Social Anxiety. I find preparation to be the key to success, and individual interviews are much easier as opposed to group interviews. Regardless, lean into your strengths and develop a strategy. Do some research on the top 50 interview questions ( check out the Muse website, it is a job/career page) and practice with someone you trust.
