I’m not bad with money but definitely lots of room to improve overall, due to several personal factors I don’t want to list in full here (numerous unanticipated medical bills, bad boyfriends, etc.) Hence why I only have $3k in savings right now. Misled on Maternity Leave Policy. I found out I only get 4 weeks pay for maternity leave (STD +“sick days”). I will take 12 weeks but wont get paid for 8 weeks. I work for a US, west coast based company in the tech/VC industry. Their website claims to offer “paid parental leave and other progressive benefits for parents”. I didn’t find out until after I was hired their pay was only 8 weeks but since I have been at the company less than 12 months, I don’t qualify for their policy. Is this unfair?

I feel burnt out by how ruthless the tech industry in US is, but I also know I’m making much more money than people outside of tech or consulting.

How do you adjust your WLB?
I’m so burnt out that I wish I could yell at people who were not kind or supportive to me, but those people often unfortunately were in position of power.

I think this generation has finally understood that it's not worth preparing for govt jobs like UPSC, RBI, SEBI, SSC job, even state PCS.

Earlier they used to sacrifice important 3-4-5 yrs for such jobs but now people want to work more in Corporate rather than wasting their lives for such govt jobs which doesn't even have any significant future as compared to an IT job.

Is this true or people are still running after these govt jobs? I can see the mindset shift from Govt to Corporate jobs.

This hybrid thing is the worst shit of all time, either make full WFO or WFH, hybrid doesn't make any sense for people like us who are coming from 1000+ km's and settling in.
