Any opinions on Doroni and whether it’s worth the investment? $3.10/share and it’s only available until June 18th. What are we thinking about flying cars in general?

Doroni...it sounds like a cocktail. Maybe a delicious one.

I don't invest in individual stocks, so it isn't for me. But if the flying car is awesome maybe I will buy one.

funny

You’d have to be a total Jabroni to invest in Doroni

I am no interested at all. I don’t see the market for 400k flying cars with very limited range.

I will hold it when(if) it is ever included in main indexes.

I kind of want one (assuming they are safe and if I could afford it), though I don't think I like the idea of other people having these.

There’s something about this scam that makes it especially stupid.

Like try harder or something.

What scam?

I’m game on buying individual stocks - when it seems to line up with a clear, eventual profit. But as “aspirational” as I like to be about new technologies, our current world simply isn’t configured for flying cars, and honestly won’t be for a very long time.

The technological challenges are still only experimentally solved. The legislative hurdles haven’t even begun, marketing and economic positioning is limited to a very exclusive consumer bracket and all you need is a single crash or death to set the entire industry into a complete and utter black hole for at least a decade regardless of whether or not it was pilot/driver error instead of device failure.

Flying cars may eventually exist, but the climate required to accept them in any mainstream capacity is at least two or three decades away - and that’s being optimistic.

So if you want to take and hold a very long bet, go for it - but don’t delude yourself thinking it will balloon into any functional retirement savings anytime soon.

Maybe if Dubai takes a liking to the idea of flying cars, but I think they’re too happy with their current supercars to risk falling out of the sky.

This is just my immediate.02¢ off the top of my brain, late at night and after a couple of beers, so maybe i’m totally wrong. But I’ll bet that I’m not.

I’m currently looking into Chinese solar & wind generation stocks - or their electric vehicle brands which are so good they’re being blocked from import into the US. And that ban will only last as long as we have enough capital that can continue pay for that block, which is likely not that much longer.

PSA - We are headed into a self-imposed economic slow down. Now is not the time to lateral but if you do, I would make sure you are at a recession-proof practice or firm. The top law firms will be okay (they always are) but if you are part of a larger group of associates with no work, you are likely to be axed. Latham did it in the 2008 and 2011 and it will happen again. If you are an associate or really anyone but a rainmaker, you are expendable.
