Some agents/law clerks I know did law school part time at lower ranked schools while working in a firm and ultimately went because it made sense money wise, but didn’t need to invest in a top school
Not an attorney, but I'm an agent starting law school in the fall. I'm going because 1. Increased salary, 2. Ability to make partner, 3. Get more credit for my work, 4. I just feel like I need to go all the way.
Oh wow! I didn’t know those sections were going away! I’ve just started looking into it and those problems look legitimately fun. Way more interesting than the patent bar. Thanks for your input!
Almost all patent attorneys I know started as an agent and worked while attending law school. The law license simply allows you to make more money while doing the same work, not to mention the potential for elevating to an owner or partner of a firm.
I have no advice. I just wanted to say thanks for asking this question.
As someone currently working to transition to a patent agent, and eventually patent attorney.
The responses here are very encouraging.
Went to law school for nearly doubling my salary. It was worth it.
Yes still in pros. Have friends who moved to do patent lit and tech transaction.
