Any recruiters that can help with finding an in-house legal counsel role? Or any advice on how to transition out of a law firm. I’m so unhappy.

I just did this. Recruiters were not much help. I just applied to jobs posted on LinkedIn. It’s a numbers game. Eventually I made some headway and then found a great gig.

We are looking for a litigation attorney with 3-5 years experience in the Los Angeles area. DM me if you’d like to discuss.

Use the LinkedIn job search portal or subscribe to goinhouse.com. certain recruiters have ties to particular industries - for instance, Whistler partners is very tech and young company oriented. Best of luck!!

Your background will have a massive impact on how difficult the transition will be (some practices are more transferable). T14 education and big law is an easier transition. Networking helps. Some recruiters might be able to help, but as described we have relationships with different industries and clients (some exclusive).

Rather than straight up quit and job hunt, instead try working in-house by applying to contract/temp roles. Less competition and faster hiring process.

Hello, not sure if I should move this to the Referral Bowl or here is good.
I have multiple years of working in Sysadmin/Tier 2-3 roles. Still experience trouble getting another SysAdmin role since I lost mine. I live in a state with plenty of work if sec-cleared. I cant get one.

Anyone work somewhere that could use an exceptional sysadmin, and that understands people aren't their past mistakes. Stuck back on helpdesk & want back to sysadmin

My partner and I are looking to move from NYC to Dallas in 2022. I’m in big law and he is a public interest lawyer. I can easily transfer within my firm, but he’s having trouble pinning down public interest opportunities in Dallas. It seems like they’re less available than NYC, but also not sure if we just aren’t looking in the right places. He currently does housing work but is passionate about civil rights and public benefits generally. Any tips on how to come by public interest opportunities?

Hi Everyone,
I need your views and suggestions. I have two doubts:
1. Is it fair to leave an organisation (big brand) after a year as the environment is real toxic and there’s no career growth as well in terms of good work.
2. If I have to make a switch do I really have to target big brands only or can try for medium and small size companies too.

I have been a practicing (patent prosecution) lawyer in different firms for about 20 years. I would love to do something more creative but still techie (computers, telecom, apps, etc.). I've always been interested in improving the software that practicing lawyers use (whether patent-specific or not). I am also kind of an academic at heart, but I live in a locale where professorial jobs are pretty limited and we're rooted here now. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I work with great people. Really can’t say anything bad about my firm in general either. But…I still dislike the entire premise of law firm life, the billable hour, etc..
