Bain & Company I have a second round with Bain & Company coming up at the DC office for Experienced Consultant role. Excited, but hella nervous. Recruiter said it’d be 3 separate interviews, all with Partners; 2 case, 1 fit. About 40 mins each. First round was 2 case interviews with Sr. manager & Associate Partner. Been a rough year, so definitely looking forward to this opportunity. I’ve been on the site and going through preparation and materials. Any advice or suggestions welcomed!

You can leave whenever you want, I had a family friend quit one place after 3 weeks, ended up in a different in house role, eventually made GC. I quit my first national firm after 8 months because it was a poor fit. Your happiness and health are the most important things, if this job is harming them and you have the ability to leave, do it
Agreed. Staying in a toxic environment or a job that isn’t a good fit just to avoid looking like a job hopper should not be normalized anymore.
If it's that bad. Life is to short move on. Given how the market it is you can easily make it to the six month mark at this job before you find something else.
Leaving because of a change in scope is valid for most roles. But… IHC prizes flexibility. Because problems will arise and it’s expected that “next man up” tackles it. You don’t want to be seen as “not-a-team-player” in interviews.
If you spin it as a very different scope (like switching from transactional to litigation; or something requiring immediate senior level expertise) that would likely mitigate blowback
Yeah, I think it’s valid. Of course, make sure that you really do want to leave. But it’s not unheard of.
I’m in a similar position, and it’s been rough to find a new one though, I think also because companies look at it with suspicion that you want to leave that early.
Yeah start looking, as LC1 said, could easily take you months to find another role.
I recently was actively planning to leave a toxic work environment after a few months. My employer accidentally saw my correspondence re interview at another place and changed completely in one day. Now my workplace is very tolerable as it became clear I would leave 😅
Life is too short. Start looking for another role.
Nothing wrong with starting to look for new positions if your current one isn’t aligning. Being there for such a short period might raise some eyebrows, but at the end of the day you only need one company that isn’t deterred by it. If you are a qualified candidate, I’m sure there will be plenty of opportunities regardless, so look for them while you still have the security of your current position. I also think it’s more normalized to switch positions more frequently in the in house world vs a firm setting.
