I know this will probably be an unpopular opinion, but I actually wish the Adobe purchase had gone through.
Well seeing as I use the NOT free enterprise version of Figma for work, just like I us an enterprise version of Adobe Creative Suite, the idea of it not being free really doesn’t apply in my calculus. I am more than happy to pay for quality tools, and the money I pay goes toward evolving and advancing that tool. Honestly, I’m not sure I really buy into the whole idea of democratizing design as a viable way to run a successful software company.
I'm cautiously optimistic that it'll be a good thing. Raising all that money should help make it even better. My only real concern is that they'll try to use the improvements to justify raising subscription prices, similar to what Canva tried earlier this year.

@PS1 I agree. I never quite understood the comparison between Canva and Figma (although I haven't explored Canva a bunch) but it just seems the capabilities have always been so different with Figma being able to do so much more

All the new features they blasted was to pad and hype their ipo. It worked. They were up 200% first day.
I think theyre over valued.

Oh for sure overvalued. Evident by the decrease in share price after the surge (although this almost always happens with every IPO). I'm just worried what this actually means for the longevity of the product
I fear it will only accelerate the enshittification of the platform

Those are my fears as well. Especially since now the priority will likely shift to pleasing shareholders and raising stock price
