Ah, definitely go in prepared with your written resignation and don't leave them room to try to come back with empty promises. Also, be kind in your delivery. I just resigned after over a year for a better opportunity and in essence said "I've enjoyed working with you and the team but the opportunity that's come up is one that doesn't exist for me here at present and doesn't appear that it would be a reality for the next few years. This wasn't an easy decision but I hope I can count on your support."
I’ve resigned 6 jobs, 2 after 6 months and the rest after between 2 and 4 years. Not easy but necessary. Best case, goes well and boss understands, shake hands and start transition, worst case boss is upset, spouts off and then start transition, you’re out in two weeks either way. Think of it as uncomfortable two weeks vs uncomfortable on going situation where you’re not happy.
You’ll be fine but it’s ok to be anxious
Thanks. I put in my two weeks and all and all they did try to fight a little bit but didn’t offer any real Perks basically just tell me that I could really grow. So I just let them know my two weeks is final and nothing was really was said after that.
