Any tips on how to handle jealous colleagues?

Do guys like when you act disinterested? I swear the only time a guy is into me is when I don’t reciprocate any interest and am aloof. Whenever I like a guy and try and be friendly and show interest (and I don’t think I go overboard. I just like try and have a quick texting convo a day) they act like im a stalker and stop talking to me

Lesson learnt:

Never tell your colleagues where you are joining beforehand.
Not all are good advisors, some will ruin your mind with their opinions.

When a senior banker(male) has asked you (female) to go to lunch multiple times with him. What to do? Is it unprofessional to keep saying no? It seems like more than just a friendly lunch.

What happens if what the employee said is slanderous and a “he said/she said” situation? How do I be a decent manager to a coworker who's upset I've been promoted twice in two years and they haven't? We started out as coworkers, became decent friends after a few good moments, but went back to simply coworkers after they flubbed a few projects and I had to step in to clean up.
