I wouldn’t work recommend working there to anyone, other than an old white man and some old white women. So many people have left there abruptly. They have had major staff and partner walkouts. Some offices are not as bad as other (just like the previous person posted), but everything does run through the people in Atlanta. Management is the main issue there. That’s not to mention the malpractice going on in the firm. The list of problems can just keep going….
Culture varies a lot from office to office. I’ve heard the atlanta office is awful, which I believe. The atlanta office is the main one and they try to apply everything that the atlanta office does to the other smaller offices which ruins everything. Chicago office is very small but the partner in charge there is very nice. Majority of Texas offices have left. They went to Gordon and Rees. Austin office doesn’t even exist anymore. I believe the associates in texas started out around 85. If you are early on in your career and are looking for more experience, sure, but may not be worth it otherwise. A large portion of their practice is asbestos and talc litigation. I think the quota for associates is 1800. It’s generally a fine place to work, just depends on what you are looking for.
I am not sure it’s even worth going there to get a start. I didn’t know paralegals or associates that were not absolutely miserable working there.
I worked at Hawkins Parnell & Young and couldn’t believe all the malpractice around me. I second the other comments about the firm. There have been so many mass walkouts because of horrible they are to their employees. I was blamed for things that happened while I was in law school, but the boy in my office could settle cases without client authority. I could write a book on how problematic they are.
I would not recommend working there as well. I worked there for year and a half...and let me just say "miserable" is an understatement. The firm is poorly run and the attorneys are not proactive and management, oh my mistake, what management, The elephant in the room is the pay,,,which is just a tick above minimum wage. Just not a good firm.
