I left Audit at a midsize firm to join KPMG erp implementation consulting about 6 months ago. So far they seem to only want to staff me on projects with a heavy focus on technical accounting and audit. Spoke to a lot of others who have left and seems like being pigeonholed or staffed on projects not related to the actual core work of the practice is the common reason. I deeply respect him—he is why I decided to stick with the company. I felt like I found my Gandalf/Yoda/Teacher. I appreciate his mngmnt style—lots of freedom and opportunity for discovery. But sometimes, it feels like he doesn’t care and gets exhausted by conversations around growth. I know when he is frustrated with my Qs cuz he’ll start giving my short answers. And that’s whenever I try to get objectives for a projects out of him. What do I do lol?
