Currently working a credit analyst in small business banking, feeling that I’m being under paid 3+ years in the industry with my last promotion I still do most of the old role responsibilities in addition to the new role responsibilities, brought it up with my direct manger “Your working some of your old responsibilities with the new pay rate” I see it that I have more than one role to perform now and I’m not even making median pay. Any advice?

Most credit analysts are underpaid for all the work they put in. Many organizations see it as “paying dues” for an eventual lending role with more potential.

If you’re interested in lending as a path forward I’d say stick with it, otherwise wouldn’t hurt to look for other opportunities.

helpful

Hard to make a call on whether you're underpaid without actually knowing your responsibilities and pay. However, if you feel you're underpaid, that's what really matters. Put yourself out there and see what kind of other offers you can get. If you get a better offer, use it to leverage for more pay. If you can't, decide whether you want to stay or go somewhere else.

like

IMO, I would expect some of my previous responsibilities to stay even if I got a promotion. If you move to a completely different, unrelated position, then all those old duties should go away. But unless they promoted you to, say, a management position and didn't fill your associate role so you had to do ALL your previous work plus new work, I wouldn't call that unfair.

I had cleared the interview and after the HR discussion, I checked my application status and could see that its on hold state. The reason written is that we dont have any opening matching your expected compensation. I didn't know that for level 10, 13.2 LPA is the maximum they can offer. When I had discussion with the HR told my expectation as 14 LPA as fixed, she didn't negotiate then, just my profile on hold and no one is replying now. I am ready to negotiate now but how can I do that now?

For anyone who receives a quarterly bonus or raise in some form, does your employer start to schedule you for less hours when your raise kicks in, or pull you from a future schedule entirely once you receive a bonus; only to put you back on once the hours you would have worked and earned the amount given are passed? Ie; a part time employee getting $200.00 in a quarterly bonus and then not being scheduled a whole week during a bi-weekly pay period where they would have earned more on the clock…?
