I’d go someplace else if possible. Unless you are trying to take advantage of a company paid even/trip and looking to save some money on hotel and travel. Vegas is not the place for kids. Period. Go to California, Florida, even Mexico may be cheaper and more appropriate for a family trip.
Not necessarily a ‘bad move’. Just would be my last choice with kids. Could be an awesome getaway as a couple, just you and partner, partner though!
I've been to Vegas a few times, the main strip and Old Vegas strip and you'll mostly run into normal street actors amd entertainers from like movies and things. I saw scantily clad women out and about one time and that was on the old Vegas strip lol. People will be drunk though since you can walk around on the sidewalks and strips with open alcohol
You will have to walk by homeless people (same as any city) and someone might try to hand you a card with a hooker's picture/number on it (unlikely with kids) but the people you run into on the strip, especially before toddler's bedtime, will be more "fun costume" and less "overt stripper".
We had fun but maybe that's only because we'd been a few times before the kid and knew the lay of the land... the aquarium at Mandalay and the pools at most hotels are great for kids, plenty of child friendly food all over. If I was going to go with kids again I'd probably stay at the Delano and visit Excalibur/Luxor/NYNY for activities with kids, maybe venture up to the linq ferris wheel/flamingos/mirage volcano one or two times

Oh trust me, I know! We ran into them in Mexico. Not worth ruining a trip for a few perks
Definitely safe, especially during the day. Gone are the days when hawkers would pass out cards to promote their strip clubs. The northern part of the strip is quieter (we loved staying at the Wynn, probably our favorite), whereas mid strip by Planet Hollywood is a lot more crowded and busy… that area has also gotten a bit dirtier with more hobos due to Covid. More of a party crowd mid strip. We’ve stayed at Caesars Palace, Bellagio, Wynn, Aria, Palms, Palazzo, and the Cosmopolitan, all very safe.
Stayed at the MGM Signature Suites. Next door to Top Golf, adjoining rooms and a fridge etc make it really easy with small kids. Agree a few seedy characters but not unsafe. Some provocative van / taxi advertisements but nothing crazy
One thing to consider is your tolerance for cigarette and cigar smoke & smell. Not sure if anything has changed since I was last there, but I remember the stench being really annoying to me (and I didn’t have kids at the time)
