Thoughts on Wealth Management as an industry? Offered a role to work under a senior FA and eventually take over the book (~$800M AUM and growing). It sounds great, but I am worried about the disruption this industry is facing with Robo advisors and other low cost, DIY options. A junior associate at big law here. When you get emails from recruiters asking for a call to discuss new opportunities, do you respond declining or do you just not respond? What’s the norm? Do you respond to cold emails?

Possible to get into BigLaw or regional Big Law without top grades as a non-traditional lateral? Been out of law school several years, have five years of industry adjacent quasi legal experience and am in my second year at a traditional boutique firm practicing corp/securities.

Did anyone lateral into big law? First year in insurance litigation defense and I’m looking to see if it’s even possible to break into big law in a year or two

I’m a first year associate (almost second year). I work at a national firm and I’m not a litigator. When I started with the firm, I was told I could work out of any office. Long story short, I regret choosing the office that I chose. I’d like to transfer to another office - is that a difficult ask? I’m licensed in the state I’d like to transfer to. I don’t know how to make this request.

On what website can you search an attorney who is admitted in New York? To confirm their bad admission etc. TIA - I’m not in the US.

Partners - Do you ever take vacations?

I have been at my current firm for about 1.5 years, and in that entire time the partner in my group hasn't been out of the office a single time. Is that normal? I can't tell if it's standard for big law partners to not take time off, if the dynamics for my group may be different (only 1 partner in the entire group), or it the partner I work with is just a masochist.
