Offers like this are testing whether you are capable of basic division. Seriously just divide one number by the other.
No. No they aren’t. United keeps gutting their program. I try to get like 1.7 cents per point but it’s hard. They just no-notice doubled prices on ANA and Lufthansa first. Buying miles is almost never worth it.
You shouldn’t be using United miles in 90% of cases anyway. And if you need them, thanks to Chase and bilt you can mint more miles than god pretty easily. Or use the shopping portal. Dining program. MPX app. United makes it so easy to not buy miles if you need them…
More often than not, the only time you should buy miles is when you are a little short for a flight you are about to book.
This is the right answer. These generally only make sense for top-ups.
The numbers are there. Why have you not used the calculator on your phone to do the math? Only you would know if it’s worth it to you based on the average price of tickets you buy from your home city.
Even without doing the math, there's a giant countdown timer at the top trying to create a false sense of urgency. That alone should tell you that the deal is probably not that great.
Yeah short term if you have use makes sense. I used once . United had 40k mile tickets to Asia worth about $1000 retail at that moment. Had to get 4 round trips and this route worked out better.
But also you can find a lot of people willing to sell miles (buy tickets in your behalf) at this rate or even better. So there is that. Now I am flush with miles happy to entertain any such offers.
Still not worth it. You're better off buying from Avianca Lifemiles which often has a 175% match bonus (versus United's max of 100%) and you can get to Asia with fewer miles via Lifemiles as compared to United Mileage plus.
After United's devaluation, the minimum from US to Asia in economy is now 54,100 miles versus 47,000 miles with Lifemiles. After the promos, you can basically get roundtrip with Lifemiles for the price of One-way on United.
Biz class costs 90k Lifemiles versus 110k United.
