Anyone else exhausted with constant anxiety from people in the office always talking about AI and how AI will steal all our jobs? I know there's truth to it and that the only way to deal with it is to keep up with the times, but does talking about it all the time help? I just need everyone to calm down.

I believe in ignorance is bliss. I just do my job and try to use AI to help me. If it takes my job I will upskill and be fine. Or pivot to a different adjacent career. The tech boom was crazy when it happened but people pivoted. We’ll be fine

Oh yeah, the constant “AI panic” talk is exhausting. I’m trying to focus on learning 1–2 tools that actually help my work and then mentally mute the apocalypse narrative.

I see it this way, if AI can replace my job, then AI will definitely replace my boss (CTO) and their boss (Board of Directors) and then all business will be run by investors until money is no longer the primary form if currency. We have some time.

Why are you working in a corporate office? Find an employer who isn't mired ini1973.

Yes.

AI will take over every job. We will all sit around with nothing to do and no way to earn any money.
Our society will collapse as we are ruled by computers.

It will soon become a repeat of the stone age!

If people would just think about what they are saying and listening to online and apply some critical thinking.......

The only thing that will save us from getting teplaced with jo pay is demanding Universal Income and #democracyatwork

Do you think you and your significant other should have similar personalities? My significant other and I are doing long distance and I feel like when I FaceTime with him, I emote more and show interest by asking more questions but from his end, he doesn’t always have a reaction or just nods, and it makes me feel like he’s uninterested. On his end he sees it as he’s comfortable.

Just curious to how my firms (wealth management/bank/trust) comp compares with others out there. I received a promotion earlier this year from an Investment Advisor, AVP to Senior Investment Advisor, VP and moved from $110K to $140K ($130 salary + $10K discretionary bonus) all in. By meeting expectations in 2 pay cycles, the base bumps up to $175K + bonus. Grown in this role over about 10 years with the same firm, MBA + CFA; top 10 city and living comfortably as dual income household.

I work for a specialized group in my litigation group and have had a wonderful experience and really respect and appreciate my boss, the co-chair of this specialized group. I’ve now accepted the opportunity to take over my parents business and plan to leave practice this summer. How do I even start this conversation with him? I’m sure I care a lot more than the group does, but I feel like because he went out of his way to really mentor and bring me into his group, i feel bad.

Recently lateraled as a public defender in HCOL area to ID in LCOL area for $$$. I’ve been at the job a little over a month. My concerns are that I’m getting very little guidance or mentorship, and I’m worried about not hitting billable hours (2000 requirement but I am just over 80 for the first month). I am only in charge of a ~5 cases atm and struggle with figuring out the next steps, etc. I’ve met all my deadlines that have come up. Thoughts or advice?

So, some of my co-workers simply said that they want to go ahead and start something or start looking elsewhere (career change) because they don't know how much it will last at the pace we are going in regards to case intake and pay out. Should I start panicking or simply start looking elsewhere? They even they even told me if I was looking elsewhere or planned on doing so also. I found it weird in a way.

This is twice now in back to back weeks my boss has asked me where the disconnect was in our communications because I didn’t deliver on what “was asked”, even though I know damn well what was asked and what was done were the same thing.
