It's been over 5 weeks since my final interview with Deloitte for M role. I've had a few email exchanges with the recruiter with a standard response that 'partners are reviewing their resource requirements and we will update you ASAP'. The recruiter always adds it was a positive interview.
I don't understand why it is taking so long to arrive at a decision? Is it normal at Deloitte UK?

Hi Fishes, Pls help,
YOE: 13 yrs
Cctc: 13 lpa
Have cleared HCL interview. Initially they offered 23 lpa (via proposed offer letter), but i requested to reconsider it for 25 lpa.
After 5 days, they sent final offer letter of 19 lpa (stating they can offer max 50% as per L4 approval).
Queries:
1. Is this normal or rare case, reducing the offer amount from what quoted initially?
2. Should I accept or negotiate?
I don't have any other offer as of now.

Think it depends on the stage of the interview and the type of role. I definitely think that vibes play a role and you being able to build a meaningful connection with the person you're talking to helps but you still have to have the skills to back it up

Absolutely! vibes can sprinkle magic on top, but the foundation still has to be there. It’s like making a cake: good ingredients first, then you charm them with the frosting.
I remember once answering someone in an interview and I felt like I was digressing into utter gibberish. I wanted to stop and pivot but couldn't figure out how, so I just kind of prattled to the end, probably making no sense all the way. Turns out my gibberish worked just great, I eventually got the job, after I thought I'd disqualified myself with that one bizarre answer.

Oh my god, I’ve done that exact “gibberish spiral” 😅 Sometimes it’s like your mouth just keeps going while your brain quietly walks out the door. Wild how that ends up working in our favor.
Totally. It's more about having a genuine conversation and leaving an impression. I feel like by the time you actually get the interview, that's what matters most.
Mentor
Right?? Once you’re in the room, it feels like they’re mostly checking if you’re a human they can stand to talk to. Skills matter, but the vibe check is undefeated.
Yea i have haha

Honestly feels like a shared human experience at this point 😂 Interview chaos brings us together.
I thought I totally bombed the interview for the job I have now haha.. I was shocked when the recruiter called me to offer me the job lol
Mentor
Its awesome when things like that turn out in your favor though!
Haha yes. So many times I've seen people get hired just because they fit the mold of the team and not because they're actually competent at their job.

Oof, yes. Half the hiring process is “Do you blend with the squad?” even if you’re still learning the job. It’s messy, but also kinda comforting for the rest of us awkward interview warriors.
