Christian men, why are there so few of you in churches? One seasoned deaconess at my church theorizes it’s because 1) Men who go astray tend not to come back for reasons of guilt, whereas women who do tend to rely on their faith/church families even more for support 2) Many churches are no longer missional. So the sense of purpose, of building something etc. is lost for men. Curious to know what you think, and if you can invite your male friends. We need husbands over here. 😅
Classic case of a powerful man with no accountability. Highly recommend this article: https://www.thegospelcoalition.org/article/the-pattern-among-fallen-pastors/
I have found it to be really interesting, but I haven’t finished yet though - eager to hear how it concludes. I left my last church because I felt the pastor was becoming too untouchable, and the board that seemed to be full of men who just supported whatever said pastor wanted to do.
I hope this doesn’t come across in the wrong way but there has to be more to story as to why you left. whether you wish to explain or not - it is very hard to understand what is “too untouchable” and why that is reason enough for leaving. Having full board support can either be “yes men” or alignment with trust in the direction leadership is heading - what was your real concern?
