Anyone else seen job postings with salary range, then when you ask for salary in the high range they say comp request is too high for role applied to, when you meet all qualifications and experience?

Pretty common. I often see ranges from 120k-200k, which realistically means the absolute highest you can expect is 150k.

Feel like companies use that upper range to entice applicants, and then hope when they offer above the floor, an applicant will just say “well that’s pretty good I guess” and accept.

It's an employer's market for sure. Yes there is a shortage, but changing firms isn't giving the same increase in wages it was 2 years ago.

like

Yes it is

Yep the market is not great right now. I’ve been trying to leave audit and the market is brutal. Salaries are down but task and requirements are up.

9th September onwards, so called the grand programme for the next 3 Fridays for completion of 150 years!
Question to Leadership!
1. You are calling all the employees in the office & just providing lunch? That's all for completing 150 years?
2. You would ask questions, and whoever is able to answer it, you will give some merchandise only to them?, And the other people are not your employees?
Why are you even organizing it? You think people would come from far places just for lunch?

I can really use some direction. My background, I've worked 2 years in strategy and am currently coming off an exhausting year 2 in investment banking. I didn't particularly enjoy either role and am not interested in moving over to the buy-side or some monotonous FP&A role. Everybody says there's exit-ops aplenty, but I find myself with less options and even more picky than I did as an ambitious T2 undergrad student. Where do I go from here?

I’ve been practicing in traditional labor for about two years now (although about a decade of labor relations experience) but I’m trying to break into employee benefits law. Unfortunately I’m not being given much experience in benefits as I’m pretty typecast as a labor atty. Any advice on how I can go about getting employee benefit experience? My long term goal is to have benefits be my main area of practice.

Does anyone have any insight into partners retiring early? I am at a point where I need to consider leaving if I am not aiming for partner. I don’t see myself working past my 40s. My partner and I are not big spenders and anticipate have enough to retire comfortably in 40s (obviously a lot can change). Networking question here. A retired partner at the firm I used to work out reached out to me recently about attending an afternoon during the week (b4 4/30) with one of his long time clients. The partner and I have kept in touch since I joined my new firm and I feel like his invitation is a great networking opportunity since the client (who I have worked with before) is on a number of boards. Torn as how to request off as an S3. Could materialize to nothing but could be good for reconnecting.
