Comms is short for common sense, because that’s how easy that job is.

I meant that Digital and Social/Influencer disciplines who move into a Comms Planning usually get the least respect. I’d add Experiential or Activations into that bucket as well. I’m not from that pedigree, so I’d defer to someone who is to tell you about it.
I think you’re right that ‘connections’ is used media side and ‘comms’ creative side. But we certainly expect ours to be able to do the same thing.
Are they both considered "strategists" in your agency? Or do they sit in different departments? It depends if your shop offers a media discipline, because in those instances there is a clear difference and in my experience they do not do both, and there is actually a lot of friction around making that expectation.
