I’m working with a financial education startup that is looking for an animator or team of animators that can produce 10-20 2Danimated explainer-videos (possibly a lot more in the future). 60-90seconds in length each.
They want to prioritize comprehension (function>fashion), with just a bit more style than what you can see of their past videos on their front page: https://learnfinlit.com/

Yes that’s definitely real! It’s happened to me before. I would recommend asking more questions to the client as well. Why do they want a new concept? What’s wrong with the one you’ve presented? I agree with the above comment about focusing on user needs, remember YOU are the expert they hired to create this new site. They are only telling you what they think they want, not what they actually need. If you need something to spark creativity, you could look at design sites like Muzli or Behance, it might spark some inspiration and in your comp. research, I would suggest not only looking at direct competitors but also organizations who have amazing site with a great experience or interface. Sometimes it’s less about what they do and more about how they do it
Ahh I've had this before. Focus on customer needs and eradicating any existing pains. Also sit and chat with the client, you may already have the concept in what you've already created but they want a different feature to be front and center. I'd say look at competitors but only to out do them, not copy 😉
Maybe try something off piste too, you never know!
What happened with current concept?
Do a looooot of competitive research and get new ideas from those
Focus on what the users of the site want, not what competitors are doing. Better product / service comparisons, bill explanations, entertainment, whatever addresses customers needs, stated or unstated.
Typical problem where again what the client wants, but is it actually meeting the needs of the user. Make sure you're meeting the requirements of the customer.
So I would focus on maybe bringing in sprints and bursts of design thinking (1 day workshop) so that it feels like you get their train of throught.
I’ve used it in the past and this helps flush out the actual requirements or agendas of the stakeholder while allowing them to critique the design.
It also helps in aligning the few stakeholders as most likely they don’t agree on certain concepts amongst them selves ( especially marketing vs IT ops vs developers vs tech infra/data engineers)
