Additional Posts in Accounting Exit Opportunities
Does anyone have any insight into accounting roles at Amazon, particularly in the Arlington/DC area? An Amazon recruiter reached out about accounting roles, but the posts in this bowl are about Seattle. Trying to decide if the culture/wlb/pay is even worth looking into since it sounds like the interview process is intense. Base pay seemed pretty low in other posts, but they were a year old and for Seattle.

No I haven’t but RIP if that happened to you
This didn’t happen but just curious if anyone ever experienced it.
Did your firm try to keep you (counter-offer, multiple people asking you to change your mind)? If not, you are probably best served spending the next few weeks interviewing for a new posish.
I would not personally go back to the old company in this situation
That sounds wild
I’ll buy whoever did that a beer!
Yes, I actually did this recently. Burned a few bridges at the other company (a very small and niche company) as many managers and PPMDs convinced me to stay.
Assuming you're still at Deloitte how has that worked out for you? What did they promise you to get you to stay and have they followed through?
This happened to someone I knew. The person was supposed to start on the Monday after Thanksgiving and the new company told them the Wednesday before that business conditions changed and they had to cut the position. The old company did take them back.
This happens more often than most people realize. That's why we always say to be careful how you exit; never know when you want those realtionships.
If you get a counter-offer, proceed with caution. If you had previously communicated concerns about your role, but they didn't do anything to fix problems until you resigned and/or the only problem being addressed is compensation, I would recommend declining the counter-offer. Money is a temporary fix. If they didn't care to resolve problems before, they won't do it in the future. Unless your only concern was compensation, but that's rare.
