Anyone ex-biglaw and doing something law or non-law related and making more money now?

What percentage of clients typically follow their advisor on their own accord if the advisor switches firms? Are there stats out there somewhere? This question assumes no purchase of the existing book nor a solicitation of clients from the previous firm.

Just started in Biglaw as a first year - one of the partners made a passing remark that he couldn’t remember my PQE but thinks I’m “the same as X associate”. Went on LinkedIn and saw that X associate is a third year. How do I gently correct this misconception in a future conversation?

Former big law associate here who burned out. Now a corporate inhouse counsel.

Been recovering and considering going back to actual legal practice.

I feel I need a new practice area.

One that impacts people’s lives and is meaningful, but where you don’t have to deal with disturbing facts and personal tragedies.

Any suggestions?

I’m a junior in big law and in the short time I’ve been here, I’ve noticed that counsels produce perfect drafts and yet aren’t partners but partners can’t write two sentences without numerous typos. Shouldn’t counsels be partners and partners counsels instead?

Are there any books or other resources that mid levels/seniors/counsel/partners on here have found helpful for the project management / managing junior attorney aspects of your job?

I am not finding a lot of stuff written for lawyers specifically , but there is a lot directed at “managers” in business generally that I imagine could be applicable.

Partners and seniors, what elements are you considering when you pick up which mid/junior to staff?
