Anyone have any insight into WLB for Principal Product Manager (IC5) roles at Microsoft ? I expect it’s going to vary but curious to get different perspectives

Let’s say you have a project that you charge hourly for. The briefing itself/getting acquainted w the project was a solid hour. Do you charge for that hour?

Thoughts on “special” salary grades. I just found out the VP I was offered is not a grade 12 like most comparable roles (verified). Also not an 11, but an 11A. Slightly higher than an 11, a good bit lower than a 12. All due to the fact that it’s a leap from my current position. Why should that matter…..shouldn’t it pay what it should pay if I am selected, rather that curving down towards my current rate?

I work at a start up and aside from using tools such as Jira, confluence, figma, and lucid chart I find myself still using PowerPoint a lot of the time. It’s probably the ex consultant in me but is that strange?

My mom and dad are separating (bad terms) and not speaking, but my mom asks me about him everyday. She knows I don’t want to talk to him or about him, but continues to bring it up everyday.. I have an offer to join a startup as an APM. The only downside is that the engineering team is located offshore in India. I’m concerned about the resulting impact because of 1) the potential late night calls 2) the learning opportunities missed by not working with a US engineering team (communication tactics, translatable skills) 3) potential exit opps into FAANG pm roles due to not having experience with an onshore eng team.
