idk what their team does but that name is legendary
It’s our practice that does DDs
PIPE doesn’t hire separately—they pull from the general staffing pool (but usually get time commitments from those people, eg 3 or 6 months doing PIPE work)
WLB tends to be worse than rest of population, 65-80 hour weeks, but usually no weekend work
Group dynamics are fun—PA tends to have more and nicer social events. There is a lot of camaraderie at the A/C level
Some of the principals are rockstars, but a couple are normal. P’s are important for driving case answers and ensuring efficiency of the team (I found in other cases that the PL shoulders more of that responsibility relative to PIPE)
This is from a 6 month stint in the Chicago PIPE practice. It’s commonly referred to as the “ring fence” and deals largely in PE due diligences
PIPE is now hiring dedicated ringfenced consultants in London - though this is the first market to do so I believe.
All the above still stands, though overlay London culture on top - WLB better vs other offices in my personal experience

I got the same in-mail, but opted to go with Bain. BCG is definitely not the leader in PE
It was on fishbowl. Do you want to DM me and I can see if it makes sense to return the favor
I would avoid. Doesn’t have the same rep internally or externally that other BCG groups have.. and is a very distant third place when it comes to reputation amongst the private equity base (with Bain and McK #1 and #2 respectively). Comp is decent, at market level.
Some partners / principals are very good, others are very poor (for example those in London)
This is very counter to the experience I’ve seen in NAMR. In NAMR typically folks that have done ring fence (PIPE) stints are considered very high performers (they learn the BCG toolkit very quickly) so internal reputation is sterling. External may be a different question, but still very strong and growing like crazy.
Same comp as other practices obviously
Same as LEK DDs but the teams are smaller (3 people)
I’m obviously biased… but if you are set on PE DDs, Bain and LEK are the pretty clear leaders (or even McKinsey). BCG is stronger in other areas.
I think LEK has high volume but the quality is a step below any mbb, ive seen a few of their sell side reports and thought they were very poor
OP you can dm me if you want more insights
