I’ve never had anyone even look at my epic pass. They scan it with a reader while it’s in my pocket.
Nah, as long as u know their name. They literally just scan it from inside your pocket/jacket. U don’t even have to pull it out. I have an epic pass and friend has ikon. We trade all the time - Colorado resident
This is illegal?? Look up “theft of services”
I have a buddy who works at winter park and told me how easy it was to get away with this. They get paid the same hourly rate regardless. What should be frowned upon are the resorts over selling tickets and consumers having to wait 30+ min at lift lines
If you’re wearing a face covering and goggles and know the persons name and birthday you’ll be 100% fine.
Ikon works a little differently but has cameras in place above the scan gates to check for this kind of fraud. Some mountains have a person standing around with a tablet looking at pass photos and comparing them to who’s actually going through the gate.
Not sure the extent of fraud mitigation for Epic mountains but seems like it’s less since they just come up to you and scan it with no ability to cross-ref a picture.
You’ll get arrested

East Coast I've never had someone look at it. In Colorado I've had people check once or twice.
I got epic my friend has ikon, we trade all the time. Just keep it in your chest pocket and scan and that's it lol
Why is this in the consulting bowl
Consultants also shred the slopes bruh

Make sure they’re prepared to answer to your name. The lifties often scan look up and a say “John?” And if you don’t answer they make you take it out and look at the picture.
This is true. But I would assume u should know the persons name of the pass u are borrowing lol
At least at some Epic mountains the cardholder’s stored picture pops up on the screen of their scanner. Whether they compare it to the person’s face, or even can compare (due to face coverings etc), is another matter.
Regardless, as M1 said, this is theft and should be against the values of anyone in this industry. The fact that you can get away with it, or whether it hurts someone is irrelevant (that’s the slippery slope of rationalisation).
