For good speed, astound ended up being expensive. The lower speeds(cheaper) were not great for streaming.
Appreciate the response. I was looking at the higher end packages. ATT is $80/mo for up to 1gb. Astound is $70 for up to 1.2gb.
I used Astound (RCN) when I first moved here but they doubled their rate after my first year and then despite me calling to cancel they kept charging me and I had to keep calling to get the charges reversed. I’d stay away 😅
Echo this. Fuck astound. They have intro 1 year rates and Jack the prices up after to 120% of previous levels. They know it’s a pain to change internet providers and lock people in hoping they won’t notice their rate went up. Best case scenario, it’s a one year rental rate. Go with ATT, the price increases will still be there but they will be more gradual
Good experience moving from ATT u verse to 1 gb with astound. Cut cable so only use for internet.
If you are served by Rcn fiber, you have to use their modem. If you are on their older cable line you can use your own.
Whenever I have Astound / RCN as an option, I always take it. I don’t have cable, so pure internet they always come out cheapest. Agree with QMS1, after a year the rate goes up, but a quick call and they usually give me some options to get it back in line.
I’d do astound if they offer fiber
Try calling comcast for a retention offer and also sign up for a new account under w new email (gmail Alias I.e., youremail+comcast@gmail.com) and phone number (I used my Google voice number). I did the most recent front page slickdeal offer, $25/month for 200 down.
I use tmobile and it's been way better than xfinty was
Can also put the payments on Amex and then have Amex tell them to pound sand if they keep billing after you cancel
But you should have email confirmation of canceling, no?
Chief
Is it cable internet or fiber ? they have both. Fiber >>>>>>> Cable Internet
Astound is decent, keep in mind, just because your apartment is compatible with it doesn't mean it's wired to work with the fastest option, if you go with them do it all online (they have more perks like a $200 gift card, free TiVo stick (like the fire stick), and a deal on the plan.
If your building has it as an option I would use Everywhere Wireless, they have been the best service out of all I've had. They were no bs, no hidden surprises, the fastest option and the cheapest. Definitely my favorite.
If you have TMobile as your cell phone carrier I've heard their wifi device (work as a hotspot amplifier) is fast and amazing. I know a few people that switched over and I'm honestly considering the same
Writes* SQL
P.s. I work from home, so wifi is very important to me
I've been using the cheapest option for two years, and had no issue so far. I mostly use the internet for work or streaming, not game. Gamer might need to choose better internet speed.
Everywhere wireless (they’ve had a recent name change / merger? that I don’t remember). No change in pricing for the last 3-4 years. Reliable.
