You’re basically talking about one of the top routes in the country that has actual volumes of paying premium demand - remember that some companies allow more senior personnel to buy business/first for flights over three hours. The top tier frequent fliers get what inventory remains.
If you can do a route like this say, midday on a Tuesday or a Saturday, you’ll have a decent shot with medium to high airline status. Otherwise your only consistent shot will be with top tier status and even then you’ll likely regularly not be upgraded.
Only time I was regularly upgraded on cross country was Delta jfk-sea for red-eyes🙏🏼 it was at that moment, I realized there was a higher being and it’s name delta
On non-travel days I’ve had a few. Not on Sunday’s or Thursday’s
American, ExPlat. I wouldn’t say frequent, maybe 50% of the time? Depends when you fly, of course.
American and Ex Platinum. About 50% of the time on standard business travel routes. About 80% all other times
What kind of monster companies don’t book you on business class for 5+ hour regular flights 😒
The majority of companies. Otherwise you’d see far more business/first seats on domestic aircraft.
