How many of you have trouble relaxing? I can't stop working, even at home or on vacation
I go back tomorrow after a week's vacation. When is it expected I start catching up on email? Tonight? Tomorrow?
My firm is virtual - all work done remotely in home office unless on client site. Haven’t traveled since mid October. It’s driving me nuts. What do you recommend doing?
Self-directed IRAs. So many questions! Have any of you ever tried a self directed IRA? I’m thinking about it in relation to investing in a company (to the tune of 150-200k) or possibly purchasing a vacation property as an investment in a location we’d like to retire (if I did that, could we use it to vacation personally occasionally in the meantime? Even if we needed to pay the IRA for the rental?) Thoughts? Warnings?
What to do with excess cash? Already have a rainy day fund, saved up for vacation, and maxed out 401k, ira, and hsa. I don't have any debt and I can't trade in anything but funds.
Taking some time off. Need some book recommendations. Some light interesting non-fiction. No self help or management books. Just interesting topics that won’t make me think about work.
Been on vacation for 3 weeks now and was just assigned to a project for when I get back. Had to log in to sign background checks but completely forgot my password since it's been so long...
Given the option of (A) running a small-mid size recruiting dept in a smaller agency, or (B) recruiting client-side / in-house marketing department — which would be preferred, and why?
I switched from audit to consulting, and I thought I’d enjoy my job since I’m no longer ticking the box.. doing something that’s more challenging (what people said lol) .. helping the client etc etc but honestly the job seems pretty much the same. I still work on meaningless BS stuff. Is it because I’m not in ‘real’ (strategy) consulting? I do process improvement / CFO advisory. Or are all corporate jobs pretty much the same other than the pay / wlb (which is def. better)
Should I be worried if I have constantly bounced from short project to project (excellent performance) and don't really see myself with a single tangible/transferable skill? I'm 1.5 yrs in & 24.
Hi! I joined TCS last year, and I am planning do Cloud Certifications. I need your esteemed answers for the following questions: Is it really necessary/worth to pursue cloud certifications at this stage? Which cloud service provider should I choose? Is TCS going to pay for all certifications? If such is the case, what is the procedure? P.S: I currently work as a Angular Developer in a Citi Bank Project, where I am not exposed to any cloud operations.
Is MLK Day not a holiday for some firms?
Livid & need to vent. Had a call with a client, I am the attorney that manages their cases. A male attorney was on the call with me as well. I try to explain something to client multiple times and he keeps cutting me off to explain his question again (even though I am answering the question but for the interruptions). Male attorney jumps in and explains exactly same of what I am saying, male client listens intently, no interruptions, then essentially ignores me the rest of the call. Raaaaage 🤬
Given the news of BB losing Ford as a client, not sure if I can make a case for holding my 1k shares for the long run. Anyone have any real bull thesis that’s not just rockets? I’m considering just dumping my BB into MGNI/DKNG to bolster my winners there

Do you guys truly disconnect on vacations? Is it frowned upon? I have a vacation next week but feel like the expectation is for me to be available
I need a mid-level brand designer helping me out on a project through the month of October (should be strong in building layouts with a branding focus). A workload of 4 hours each day. If you are interested please DM with your hourly rate and a portfolio link.
I was due for a promotion but then covid hit, and during the peak of layoffs/furloughs, I was given the run-around that we have agency wide promotion freezes, etc. Over the past month, a handful of people have been promoted. I know everyone's situation is different but I can't help feeling snubbed. How do I know whether they are genuinely trying to promote me and can't, versus them stringing me along for as long as possible? I dont want it to come to having to bring another offer to the table..
I'm having difficulty making personal connections with students this year. I teach hybrid, so I have a room half full of students in front of me and half at home on zoom. I have tried playing educational games, I greet them each time I see them, I try to do small talk, I make positive comments on their work, it just isn't happening. Any ideas?
Keep getting visa issues (canadian looking in big tech in the US) and had offer rescinded after employer realizing I need H1B. Any advice?
I work in a small big 4 office. I plan on staying through the fall busy season and leaving shortly after, definitely before spring busy season. How early should I let the firm/team know of my notice?
Just had my first business trip since COVID. I just want to say FU to everyone who is inconsiderate enough to recline and try to break my kneecaps for 2.5 hours.
How is wells fargo culture?
My H1B extension is currently in progress and have received an RFE. I am planning to travel outside the country next week and I can’t return till I have my visa stamped. But will leaving...cont....
Leaving Deloitte for a better consulting firm & a 50%+ raise. Thank you to D, if they didn’t pay me raises 1/10th the size of competitors, I would’ve never applied!
What's the designation & ctc budget of paytm for lateral hiring for 8.2 years experience (java skillset)?
Hi Tax Bowlers, I'm an experienced associate (2yrs) in a Big 4 Transfer Pricing division. I have reached a point in my career where I am considering taking up a professional certification. Several colleagues recommended taking up either ACCA or CFA, however, I see little connection between these certifications and the work that I am currently doing, and what I plan to do in the future. What would you guys suggest? Would it be detrimental to my career if I did not take up any certifications?
Flew Delta Premium Select from DTW > PWG on the new Airbus 330 plane. It was the best experience I’ve ever had, worth every penny 👌🏻
Thinking of changing my domain and company. Leaning towards business analyst roles, even though I have the relevant skills not finding leads, it's straight away a "no' from wherever applied. Anyone has any suggestions? 3YOE in a similar role but not exactly in BUSINESS ANALYST role yet, more of a consultant/advisor.
Health care is being rationed in several states. This is getting serious. This is definitely worth learning more about as hospital refuse critically ill patients who do not have covid. Emergency rooms are literally flooded, critically ill pts (w covid) wait hours on end in their car to get in to see a doctor. What a MESS https://www.adn.com/nation-world/2021/09/13/alabama-man-dies-after-being-rejected-by-43-hospitals-in-3-states-family-says-as-covid-packs-icus/ https://www.marketwatch.com/amp/story/alaska-joins-idaho-in-rationing-health-care-as-hospitals-are-packed-with-covid-patients-and-who-says-africa-is-being-left-behind-in-vaccine-push-11631717516 https://www.adn.com/alaska-news/2021/09/14/amid-covid-19-overload-providence-alaska-medical-center-now-prioritizing-care-under-crisis-standards/
Happy new year! Here’s to another year of travel and starting fresh to obtaining your airline status for 2019!!!
How do you approach a firm recruiting you when you weren't looking to move? It would be similar work, but I could negotiate a significant salary boost which would help my family reach financial goals faster. I like everything about my firm, but the pay is on the low side. I've never interviewed when I wasn't eager to leave my current job, and I'm uncertain how to discuss that with the recruiter & interviewer. I want to leverage it, but don't want to sound greedy.
Accenture members:- what is the typical promotion time from Sr Mgr to Director at Accenture?
So I reached out to my former colleague who is working at the place where I'm going to interview. And apparently, he told it to someone at my office and now everyone knows that Im going to interview.
Alright maybe tone deaf, but I’m finding it hard to use my points to escape for a couple days. Anyone else finding it hard to use points? I’m talking mid-week “Bonvoy”...
