Toronto ad fish 🤠 I’ve spent most of my career working as a copywriter in London (6 years here, 2 years Toronto) and the market is pretty different here. I’m planning on moving back home but wondered….how do you find work in Toronto? Agencies barely post openings, is the recruiter scene strong? Is it mostly who you know?

To my surprise no one is named Oliver there.
The vibes are bad. You'll work on presentation decks. Source: a friend worked there.
Deff not what i’m looking for
Stay away they’ve never made anything good here - think churning out mundane social posts everyday for a FI. Also bad people aside from creatives who are nice. You won’t add anything to your book. Where careers go to die/stagnate.
That sucks to hear, sounds too familiar - ty for the honesty!

The work is not great but it’s 100% remote, fair pay, and they promote a ton from within. Worth it for me! Not working with a finance client though.
I am guessing the client is Morgan Stanley or CIBC? it really depends which client / team you are with - but I loved worked at Oliver. We however, pitched, shot and produced very big brands social media accounts which gave us a lot of autonomy to be creative.
I have seen one financial client do a re-brand and create some really nice photography/brand direction for them in Toronto - but not sure what they work on day to day. I worked fully remote though but loved loved my role and team.
