Hi fishes, what are the chances of Pwc AC rescinding an offer, given the market condition. The offer letter I have received seems to be generic and doesn't look it is for a specific project. The role seems to be generic. I am a little hesitant, specially because of HR's behaviour who doesn't seem to care responding to my queries and ignores all my emails and calls. Any advice?

Many who repatriate are lured by a vibrant startup scene in India that is drawing unprecedented capital from venture and private equity firms and is buoyed by an effervescent market for stocks. But they are also disenchanted with what they perceive as America’s bleak and hopeless immigration landscape, where the wait times for green cards are tortuously long, and the limits on launching startups for newcomers are highly restrictive.

Another small personal and seemingly inconsequential thing I really wanted to throw out here is the joy in being referred to as an expat in the EU vs an Alien in the US. 🤷🏽♂️
First off, congratulations on the offer OP! Couple of things I’d suggest looking at as you make a decision:
- What are your personal factors that would play into this decision? Married w or w/o kids? How does this affect them? If single, how does this move affect your future plans with respect to starting a family?
Think back to why you applied outside the US in the first place and what support you had while you went through the process.
- How is the role? What are the career growth prospects? Yes, opportunities in the US consulting market are fantastic, but Europe also has a booming technology scene in multiple cities across the EU.
- How willing are you to learn French? How diverse will your team be? What support is available to you as an expat there?
- What are your long term goals with respect to immigration stability? How far along are you in the US with permanent residence sponsorship vs how does that look in France?
I’m in a similar position but with an offer with a tech company in the Netherlands vs a consulting offer in the US, the above are some of the things I’m considering.
Coming to the compensation, €95k is a solid offer, it’s very difficult to get them to match your US salaries in Europe because the markets are just different. Is there flexibility to negotiate and what kind of relocation assistance will they offer? US is undoubtedly the best when it comes to salaries, however keep in mind that’s the price that you command in a workaholic culture like that. Keep us posted on what you choose! Congratulations again!
Thanks guys ... yes I’m married and have a 3 month kid ... my wife is working here and Capgemini is interviewing her too
I’m on L1 visa which is up for renewal ... I want a stable life like anyone else and US doesn’t offer that and we know that
Europe means learning a language and offer is lucarative and yes expat not alien
Its a good deal and add your wife’s comp. if you ever want to come back to US, cap will give you a L1A and that will expedite your green card process.
Hmmm, no. Because the French are the worst
I would def do it for a year or two esp if I were young. Live life. Enjoy. Who knows when you’ll get a similar chance again
I grew up in France when I was young. Parisians give the rest of the country a bad name. 95k € will take you a long way in France. Are you married with kids? Depending on the situation, I could help a bit more
OP - Based on your situation, I think it could be a good move. Learning the language is not too tough and your kid could speak it better than English/another Desi language growing up.
I will admit that settling in can be really hard and you guys will feel lonely at times but you will eventually be able to find other families to hang out with. For example, people at work/families of your kid’s friends/other expats. I’ve gotta warm you that families and friends will come and go but you’ll then know people in all corners of the world.
Lots of things to do in Europe as well. If you’re up for an adventure and unique experience of a lifetime, I would definitely take it. My parents did not regret it at all and if I were in your situation, I’d definitely go for it!

@OP, how did you pull that ? Hook me up with such an offer haha !!
A close friend of mine did. The only issue she is facing is speaking French for promotion and stuff
you can learn French - it's not that complex. It will be a great experience professionally and personally.
Haha SC1 spot on. You will be treated so well there
@D2 : any help is appreciated and 95k is high and they are desperate due to my skill
Congrats OP! To each her/his own. I lived in France about 10 years back and didn’t enjoy it.. they seemed xenophobic. But then again, I didn’t live in Paris. So it might be diff there. Good luck!
Is your kid a US citizen then?
If Capgemini offers your wife an offer as well, would that sway you more towards moving? Also, where in France?
Learning a new language can be intimidating, at the same time it can be also a lot of fun if you look at it that way. Your child will also be able learn multiple languages faster i.e. English, French, regional Indian languages that you speak.
