I am a data scientist and was staffed on a project for data warehousing. The handover took long 1 or 2 weeks and their main data engineer already built some models. I was not been given a clear deliverable, now they want to discontinue me from project saying i have never worked on star models/azure and other person is delivering fast. While I am taking training on azure at the same time, will this project interaction look bad on my profile?
Any of you girls/ladies who need a hug/positivity dose/anything. Loads of good vibes your way. I recognize so many of us need strong shoulders to lean in rn. Stay strong and beautiful.💕

Anyone know when you are negotiating an offer, does the recruiter have the authority to agree to salary changes (within reason) or does it always get escalated?

I’m finding that a weird side effect of losing my job in this climate is ad agencies taking advantage of my weakened position. They get in touch, proactively or in response to my reaching out, and they want to hire me as they are in good shape. When I reveal I was laid off, the offer changes to freelance or maybe nothing. My work, awards, the fact that they know me and approached me in the first place should be enough. I don’t want to lie about my situation. Any ideas how to avoid this?
Just got laid off. They just cited shortage of work. First time something like this has happened and I am feeling low and lost. What should I do? I not even sure what to ask HR for? Please help I could really use some guidance.

Would u live in a much calmer place & bigger apartment but takes 40 mints to get to city vs close to city which is 20 mints away but smaller & expensive (atleast $700 additional cost). Don’t work in city but just to meet ppl and some weekend fun
Anyways to prevent Grey or getting white hair. Just 30 year old and already developing Grey hair :( Or what do you do you to get them back in their natural color.
You might have another weekend before the leaves fall or the cold really kicks in. Go hike if you can!

My friend is in a sticky situation & I want to help. They had told a trusted colleague in confidence about them *possibly* leaving at the end of the year to relocate (job not WFH friendly), but depends on if their spouse finds something (or gets a local gig & then they stay). The colleague then proceeds a week later to tell their boss about them possibly leaving. My friend found out today & scheduled a meeting tomorrow with their boss to clarify. What could they do/say to put their boss at ease?

One of my biggest home search pet peeves!! We rebuilt our kitchen a few years ago and adding an exterior exhaust was in the top 5 must haves.
The other frustration in my area is almost universal use of electric stove tops- a serious cook needs a gas cooktop!
We had the exterior exhaust added when we built our house. It’s considered an upgrade even though I paid for a ‘gourmet’ kitchen. I agree it should be included. But its not that hard to add later. A few of my friends have done it
Have you added ‘chefs kitchen’ to your home search criteria? Maybe homes have them, just not in your price range. Might just have to be something that you accept will be something that you budget as an immediate renovation
You could easily add it if the range is on an external wall, or even perpendicular to one. If perpendicular, you add a soffit above the cabinet run and vent it out. Not hard or expensive or messy. If it’s on a fully interior wall, then you are in for more complex fixes, but depending on joist direction and what’s in the ceiling between the stove and the exterior, it’s def doable (less easy to determine these things before you buy, tho).
They’re standard in European… I too find it strange that American homes have a microwave mini fan that barely works over their range instead of a proper ventilation system 😬. I guess these microwave fans are cheaper? I hate mine & the fire alarm goes off every time we cook impossible burgers or sausages.
You can always add one. A custom island vent will cost probably $2-4k for parts. Wall vents will be cheaper because they have one less side to worry about. Lots of premade vents as well. Installation is going to vary by region
