Hmm... I think there are probably ways to twist this into a positive for future employers. You can always say you were interested in building a new skill set and the new (lower) role offered you an opportunity to do that. Something that spins it in your favor will help protect you from any negative consequences
What a great suggestion! Thank you!
I went from an Engineering Manager to Global Product Manager, then accepted a role as a Senior Engineering Supervisor before transitioning to my current role. The supervisor title was a step down, but it didn’t really matter to me because it was done from a non-compete / legal standpoint and not because of a drop in responsibility or compensation.
But to be clear, the Engineering Manager role was total burnout and led to me shifting around to get better WLB and higher compensation.
I did this about 10 years ago and it was for the better. I switched companies and was able to explain it that I wanted to work to improve my community from the local government level but as life forced us to move, it was time to get back into aerospace.

Definitely could affect it if you tried to get into a managerial role again. They might just think you are going to do the same thing again and not want to take the risk.
Dont do it! You ll look like a looser and the whole thing gathers momentum. Everybody loves to kick burn outs. Pull up the draw bridge and cruise... think like a woman.
I've thought about this but don't know how to execute it
