PwC has offshore delivery center there.
I am from Bangalore. Let me know if you need any recommendations on all things local.
@K - what's best thing for someone never been to India to see and do? Won't have time to travel much
Cashew Burfi/Kaju Burfi
Or Kaju Katli ( Kaju spelt Caaju means Cashew and Katli spelt Cutli means Piece)
I don't like that sweet much. Lol. Since you are staying at the Ritz, just go up St.Marks road to this place called KC Das. Legendary North East Indian dessert shop. Try his Rasgulla (or Rossogolla) or Ras Kadam. They are milk/cottage cheese based desserts and are really famous. They even have a Wiki page.
In fact they are so famous that the Indian space org was planning on dehydrated Rosgollas for moon mission
Why Bangalore?
Enjoy your time in Banglore before Trump cuts the ties and makes off shore business difficult.....lol
Best shops on commercial street?
What are you looking to shop? There is a famous jewelry store there called Krishnaiah Chetty and a sweet/chaat shop called Bhagatrams
Looking to mostly get gifts for people and something for myself, probably sone figurines, jewelry, and things made of fabric. Not enough time to really do much sight seeing
Eat Indian cuisine. In Bangalore, ITC Windsor (SPG Luxury Collection - 5 star) has the best North Indian/Mughlai restaurants in town. Try Royal Afghan or Dum Pukht. But I would do South Indian primarily. Try a dosa in CTR in Malleswaram or go to MTR and have their Thali (Meals). The 2 are local - so stick to bottled water but ITC also has another restaurant called Dakshin. Not many sightseeing things in Bangalore. Iskcon is something you can do if you are into fancy temples.
However if you are staying over any weekend and can travel, I would do a tiger sanctuary in Bandipur or Google Chikmagalur Coffee Estates. Try the Serai in Bandipur or Chikmagalur
@OP, wouldn't recommend commercial street - try Fab India or Anokhi
Wooden figures - handicraft store on MG Road. Forgot the name. Just google it.
Also, do try Indian pizza at either Dominos or Pizza Hut. They are of higher quality and standard than their parents in US
@KPMG thank you!
@KPMv do you know what those sweets made of cashew with like silver foil on top of them are called?
