Shanghai as quality is very comparable (slightly less depending on price) but much more reasonable price. Source: I've gotten from both and my $150 suit from shanghai is as good as $850 from HKG
Bangkok
@Op I went to South Bund Soft Spinning Material Market. I believe I went to store 222. The owner’s daughter studied in US so speaks fluent English. She finished my suits and long coat in 3 days. I’m sure she can do it in 2 if absolutely necessary
HKG is expensive. Shanghai is ok
Used practical taylor in HK and was happy with the quality. About 950 a suit, fully canvassed, VBC 110 fabric
Hong Kong wins in quality but not sure if it's worth the price difference. I've had 3 suits and a long coat made in Shanghai for under a grand (close to what one suit in HK will run you for) and they have been making me look sexy for the past three years
@DD - any suggestions on tailors in Shanghai for quick turn around?
Bangkok. Rajawongse or Gulati. I have have 7 suits done there. Now I just call them.
OP, most of the main silk markets can turn around in less than 48 hrs
P1 is right, go to Gulati. I️ got 3 suits, 3 ties and 6 shirts for 1K
I’m aware of the tailors in Thailand, but unfortunately that was my vacation last year. This is why I’m asking about Shanghai/HKG. 😓
